Foundations, Associations and Cooperatives Law

Foundations, Associations and Cooperatives Law

Foundations and associations are legal entities established by persons who have come together with the intention of realizing a specific and common purpose other than sharing profits. Cooperatives, on the other hand, are legal entities established by real and legal persons in order to provide and protect their specific economic interests and especially their professional or livelihood needs through mutual assistance, solidarity, and surety with their labor and monetary contributions. While foundations and associations are basically regulated under the Turkish Civil Code, cooperatives are subject to the provisions of the Cooperatives Law and, in cases where there are no provisions therein, the Turkish Commercial Code. For the processes regarding foundations, associations, and cooperatives to be carried out according to the law, it is essential to obtain consultancy from lawyers specialized in this field.
