Trade registry

The trade registry (ticaret sicili) is the official register in which merchants, commercial companies and commercial enterprises are recorded in Türkiye. It is maintained by registry offices operating within chambers of commerce, and its records are public.

Transactions such as company formation, changes of trade name, capital increases, relocation of the head office and liquidation take effect through registration. Registered and announced matters can be asserted against third parties, who generally cannot claim ignorance of them.

In practice, registry records are reviewed before dealing with a company. Authorised signatories, share capital and the legal status of the entity are verified through these records, and official announcements are published in the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette.
